Maja is a London-based writer of German/Chinese heritage who grew up in Beijing and Hong Kong. She is trilingual (English, German and Mandarin) and was selected for the inaugural BEATS Fellowship program, a mentoring scheme aimed at British East Asian creatives working in film, TV and theatre backed by ScreenSkills and the BFI. To date, she has been selected for Film London’s Breaking the Glass Ceiling leadership course in 2023, Reclaim the Frame’s Filmonomics 8, as well as Asian-European co-production labs Ties that Bind and Bridging the Dragon. Her feature film script THE MANIKIN placed third on the Brit List 2023.

 

Maja works across a variety of genres and is especially passionate about telling Chinese-inflected stories to a global audience – bringing cultural authenticity to her work while keeping entertainment front and centre.
